Atopica is used to treat atopic dermatitis (skin allergies) in dogs, and comes in a soft capsule. Signs of skin allergies include licking, gnawing, scratching, skin infections, chewing, sleepless nights, and terrible odor. You must have a prescription from your veterinarian to order Atopica.
Atopica works by targeting immune cells involved in allergic reactions. Usually you would only administer one dose a day to control symptoms, but many dogs can be effectively controlled with a every-other-day or twice-weekly dosing.
There are many possible drug interactions, and your veterinarian should be notified of any other medications your pet is currently being given. Atopica should be given at least one hour before food or 2 hours after food.
