Heartgard works by destroying the early tissue stage of heartworm larvae for an entire month after infection. Each 6PK of Heartgard Chewables will protect your pet for a total of 6 months!
This medication should be given to your pet every month. If more than two monthly doses are missed, it is recommended that you contact your veterinarian before continuing treatment. Side effects at the recommended Heartgard Chewable dose are rare. Higher doses in cats may result in dilated pupils, blindness, tremors, disorientation, loss of appetite, staggering and agitation.
